1st trip of 2025
Gulf Shores AL
February 17 - March 5
(Fall Creek Falls State Park TN)
(Long Branch COE Campground Lancaster TN)
Started our 2025 camping season early this year by trekking down to the Gulf of America
where we joined my Jim and Diane at Gulf Shores State Park, AL. We threaded the needle by
escaping the freezing temperatures of TN and the Rain storms of AL. When stopped at
Yellow Hammer RV park 60 miles south of Birmingham and was perfect for a quick overnight stay.
Once the rain stopped we continues uneventfully to reach our destination of Gulf Shores Sate Park, AL.
The park is overwhelming with 40+ miles of hiking/bike trails, and many activities available to use within the park.
We walked the 1/4 mile pier and viewed the great "Gulf of America" and enjoyed the70+ degree weather.
Jim and Diane took care of us, taking us to the US Battle Ship/Submarine museum located in Mobile. We enjoyed
Diane's Birthday at Docs Seafood, and consumed various flavors of "King Cakes" (only available during Mardi Gras)
Mark & Lori McClain joined us for a few days and attended the Pensacola, FL Mardi Gras Parade. We acquired
2 shopping bags of swag including beads, toys, moon pies, and various other trinkets.
Jim, Mark, and I went to the Pensacola Navy Air Station and was entertained and informed by a great tour of the
Naval Air Museum. Aircraft from prior to WW-I through present day was represented there.
If you are in the FL/AL area I highly recommend doing the FREE activity.
We enjoyed our stay having plenty of food, drink, evening camp fires with friends and family.
Unfortunately the 2 weeks passed quickly and the return trip back to TN the same path as we came.
Stopping at BUC-EES for their brisket sandwiches concluded the last leg of our longest trip yet.
