6th trip of 2024
Lock "A"
COE Campground, Near Ashland City TN
August 4 - 7
Another Excellent Corp Of Engineers Campground.
Our site was very long and had plenty of flat green space leading down to the Cumberland River.
The park was very well maintained with multiple playgrounds, swim beach, volley ball and basketball courts and boat launch ramps
The park is adjacent to the LOCK "A" dam and power plant. It was very interesting to see the barges transit through it.
Speaking of barges, there were 3 at once near our camp site arriving/departing the locks
There are only 40 sites total most have water views if not water front.
OTA TV and Cell phone service was excellent. Use of our cell phone hotspots provided adequate WIFI.
Being August in TN, it remained hot and humid, However we avoided and rain or high winds
We rode our e-bikes through the entire park including a portion of the "tracks-to-trails" which overlooked the river
Heidi and I kayaked across the river to a winding 2.5 mile inlet which took us to a large pond
Swimming at the river beach was a great relief from the heat.
We did a camp fire, even though it was still in the 80's.
Of course Bonnie was content to watch the squirrels and was a really good camper
