7th trip of 2025
Skull Island TVA
Campground Harrison, TN
August 10 - 14
(Defeated Creek COE, Carthage TN)
(White Acres Campground Bardstown, KY)
Went for something different this time, Ventured to Skull Island TVA campground near Harrison TN.
Harrison is about 30 miles north of Chattanooga and has a spectacular view of the TVA Nuclear Power Plant.
Steve, Debbie, and MURF joined us and were quite please with the water front sites.
The daytime temps exceeded 90+ degrees with thunderstorms threatening each day.
Sunday and Monday turned out to be R&R days so we hung around the site and played games etc.
Even though the weather was extremely hot, the cold beer, chilled wine, and margaritas kept us comfortable.
We took our e-bikes and kayaks with us but did not get to use the bikes due to the limited areas to ride,
The kayaks were not used due to the uncertainty of the weather. (maybe next time)
As always we had plenty of food and adult beverages that alleviated our stress/anxiety from our daily lives.
Tuesday was another gloomy day so Steve and I went down the road to Harrison Bay State Park Camp Ground to
see if there were any viable camp sites that might work for us an a future outing.
Tuesday was not a good day to go to Chattanooga due to severe flooding which included shutting down I-24.
We saw an exceptional rainbow right over our heads at dusk, (picture does not do it justice)
Unfortunately Steve and Debbie departed Wednesday so he could prepare his road trip to the Richmond NASCAR races this weekend
The day was quite pleasant and the rain moved off to the east. We had I nice evening around the campfire and
slowly prepared for our Thursday morning departure. During this process I discovered the fire ants were on the march and
decided that my ankles, legs, arms, was a good place to provide negative feedback that I was not welcome to join in.
Heidi dispatched them with heavy dose of insecticide, while I went inside to address my wounds with "AFTER BITE" ointment.
